Online and on-site in Wolfsburg
Take Part! Report on your practical experiences and discuss with the participants in one of our practical forums: How can we aligne our work queer or anti-racist? How can we change our modes of behaviour and speaking? How can we pluralise narratives? What questions do we need to ask, what methods can we use, what content is missing in our work?
We are particularly interested in approaches that critically review the institution, its work and its structures and staff. We are interested in practical experiences with raising awareness and self-reflection as well as concrete measures on the way to a diversity-oriented institution.
We would also be happy to receive further ideas for contributions or impulses for questions!
Please apply as soon as possible using the application form, but no later than 30 June 2021!

Please note:
The organisers reserve the right to select the contributions. Speakers must register separately for the conference itself. The conference fee will be waived for them.
The conference will be hybrid. The practical forums can take place either as a purely on-site format in Wolfsburg or as a purely online format. The on-site speakers will receive an expense allowance, travel expenses cannot be covered.
Several contributions will also be published in the journal Standbein Spielbein 1/2023.
The conference asks how gender-sensitive and racism-critical work can be done in museums. Positions and demands from parts of society cause uncertainties, new expectations meet traditional attitudes. The conference will discuss in an international context how we can question ourselves and our work self-critically and what this means for us and the museum as an institution. The focus will be on queer and racism-critical approaches to museum work, questions of empowerment and the pluralisation of narratives. It is about the very individual understanding of the role of the eduacators as well as that of the institution museum itself: Who speaks? What do we talk about? And how do we speak?
